View Meeting Summary Part 2 .pdf
San Francisco now boasts the greatest number of WiFi hotspots of any US city, but an ambitious project to roll out a metropolitan area wireless network is gathering steam right here in Silicon Valley and garnering nation-wide press.  Municipal WiFi networks are sprouting up all over the Valley:  Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Santa Clara, and San Jose all have projects covering a range of business models from free to fee to advertisement-supported, and Joint Venture Silicon Valley is working on a project aimed at installing a seamless, multi-purpose network covering 1500 square miles and serving 2.5 Million people.
