August WCA Meeting Agenda
Sprint's Vision
for a Wireless World
Everett Aske, Solutions Account
Manager of Sprint PCS, will discuss the Sprint PCS 3G network
as well as its recent announcement to deploy Wi-Fi hot spots.
He will cover the future migration / technology path of Sprint's
Vision (3G) network and services and the benefits of CDMA2000
technology. The 3G network will provide access speeds of up
to 144 kbps and will be available anywhere on the Sprint PCS
network where there is voice coverage. In July, Sprint announced
plans to provide high speed Internet access to more than 2,100
hot spot locations by the end of the year. Mr. Aske will conclude
with a discussion of Sprint's Developer / Partnership program.
New Applications
for Machine-to-Machine Wireless Devices
Peter Stone, Aeris's Senior Vice
President of Business Development, will discuss applications
for machine-to-machine (M2M) wireless devices in monitoring,
tracking, and messaging. This market is projected to grow
from $3.4B in 2002 to $28B in 2007. Low network usage costs
coupled with decreases in prices for M2M modules are fueling
this market growth. Mr. Stone will describe Aeris's MicroBurst
service, a wireless control channel network for M2M devices.
This service leverages existing cellular networks and the
Internet to provide a cost-effective, wireless data link to
an expanding host of fixed and mobile applications.
