For April, the WCA will present two speakers looking at the 3rd Generation Market. Ms Healy will make a presentation that focuses on Multimedia applications and Mr. Bernstein will present AT&T's vision for building the next generation network that will carry these services.

"IP Multimedia Subsystems: Results of Analysis for UMTS Forum", Eileen Healy, CTO of Telecompetition.

Eileen Healy, CEO of Telecompetition, will discuss the results of a report done for the UMTS Forum that analyzes the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). This technology represents a market estimated at $322 billion worldwide by 2010. IMS provides a vision of robust, highly valuable services that integrate multimedia activities and allow services to interact with each other, thus enhancing the natural, intuitive process of the end user, in whatever network he is operating -- fixed, mobile, or roaming. Ms. Healy will share information on the resultant integration that opens up possibilities for far richer services than are available today.

"AT&T's Vision for next generation Wireless", Charlie Bernstein, Bay Area VP/GM for AT&T Wireless

Charlie Bernstein, AT&T Wireless Bay Area Vice President/General Manager, will share the company's vision of next generation wireless which will include a rollout of 2.5G coverage throughout the country by year's end. He will describe how 2.5G and 3G compare to today's service and discuss the next killer apps to revolutionize mobile multimedia. Along with mobile Internet phones, AT&T Wireless customers will enjoy converged networks for voice and data, new mobile multimedia applications, an expanded offering of handsets and other devices, and worldwide roaming on other GSM networks.
