The February meeting of the Wireless Communications Alliance (WCA) took place Tuesday, February 23 at 5:30 PM at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose. The WCA meeting is being held in conjunction with the annual Wireless Symposium.

 Mr. Eric Zimits, Managing Director of Communications Technology at Hambrecht & Quist, presented a talk on: "Broadband Wireless - The Industry's Next Growth Opportunity"

Next generation networks are defined as data- optimized, packet switched and broadband. For the most part, today's wireless networks are the exact opposite. Fortunately, a number of broadband wireless initiatives are underway ranging from wireless LANs to 3G cellular to millimeter wave point-to-mulitpoint. We believe these markets will represent the next major growth opportunity for the wireless industry.
