lIntermec's recent intellectual property lawsuit against Matrics/Symbol spotlights the higher stakes being raised in the RFID industry.
With this lawsuit in the background, the International RFID Intellectual Property Conference was held in San Francisco on 05-07 October 2004.
Don Malloy attended the RFID IP Conference and brings us his report on the current state of intellectual property in the RFID industry.
Don is the Director of Technology & Strategic
Alliances for Power Paper, an Israeli startup that has
pioneered printed battery technology which is being
used for RFID tags and power cosmetics. Don has over
20 years of experience in the electronics industry.
Previously he was the Sr. Marketing Manager for
Security ICs and Contactless Systems for Infineon
Technologies.
Prior to Infineon Technologies, he was the Business
Development Manager for Philips Semiconductors where
he was responsible for the Identification Product Line
including Smart Card ICs and contactless products. He
was president of DMA Marketing, a Manufacturers?
Representative firm in New England. His career began
at Brookhaven National Laboratory as a research
scientist.
Don earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry
from Lowell Technological Institute, Master of Science
courses in Organic Chemistry from the University of
Lowell and a Masters in Business Administration, with
distinction, from the New York Institute of
Technology.
Don has recently spoken about future technology
developments at various conferences on RFID and
contactless technology.
